The Future Looks Amazing: Road Testing Mercedes-Benz's Super Sleek-Looking Self-Driving F 015 Car

What will the world of motoring look like in 2030? Will a half-man, half-cyborg Jeremy Clarkson still be warring with the BBC? Will we all be journeying around in luxurious driverless cars?

Only time, and science, will tell on both. But Mercedes-Benz are very keen to push the idea that we will be driving around in the lap of luxury with a computer for a chauffeur, watching the world drift by while surfing whatever form the internet takes by then on a futuristic car's touchscreen panels.

Mercedes announced their opulent F 015 driverless "research car" back in January, but now a journalist from The Verge has been able to try it out.

On an old airstrip near San Francisco The Verge's Chris Ziegler road tests the car, of sorts—playing around with the touchscreens and other high-tech toys the car has to offer, while marvelling at how futuristic and shiny it looks.

So if nothing else, it certain looks the part. Ziegler calls it, "Very, very sci-fi in every sense of the word," then goes on to acknowledge that existing laws mean it's a completely illegal car road—for now.
